Can we actually enjoy our house now?!?

Finally! We are finished with ALL the projects for our house this year...I know David is ready for a break... but after watering the grass every other morning I think the next project will be irrigation system spring 2013

I could be wrong, but I think the green skinny plants are called pencil hollies (they are my favorite, esp once they are full grown) :)

4 months 7/8/12

What's New?

*Avah is eating rice cereal (just a tablespoon full at her 6pm feeding) most of it ends up around her face, but she seems to enjoy playing with the spoon. ha!

*She is taking a sippy, yay!!! Its the nuby brand 4 mo. +, its like a transition from bottle to sippy so I guess we are just skipping bottle. :)

*When shes laying flat and we grab her hands she can sit up. She can also sit up by herself but she leans wayyy over to grab her toes.

*Toes are her new fav thing <3

*She has this infectious giggle, will mostly only do for Daddy but it is hilarious!

*When she wakes to eat around 5 or 6am I bring her in bed with us & she goes back to sleep for atleast an hour..I LOVE waking up with all if us in bed..its the best snuggle time!

*She sleeps for at least 9 hours, she keeps going to sleep earlier though. At 8 weeks it was around 9pm then she was always asleep by 8 now its 7 sometimes 6pm?!
*She takes 3 or 4 naps a day each lasting only 45mins to an hour.

*Loves the exersaucer.

 I am still struggling with the "post preggo eating habits"..I picked up some very unhealthy habits in the 3rd trimester. So this is my new go to snack: tomatoes, basil, some mozz with balsamic/evoo and salt/pepper. YUM!! Let me just tell all those ladies out there a scale means NOTHING. I have been back at my pre preg weight for a while...and skin on the belly and legs just doesnt look the same. :( Scales are just a #, it means NOTHING. haha..theres my advice.

My baby is rolling over!!

So here was Avah just hanging out one morning, I look over and FLOP. I got the tail end of her first time rolling over!! Then later that day while mommy was at the grocery store she did it again for daddy!

Bath time continues to be one of my favorite evening rituals. Avah gets her bath every night between 6-7...schedule freak?!? Yes I AM!!

Just being a big girl :) Whats New: Avah LOVES her hands, they are always in her mouth these days. She can hold her Sophie teething toy and bring it to her mouth. She comfortably enjoys tummy time and can move her head all directions (not reaching for toys yet) but she will play with toys that are in her arm reach. Likes to follow sounds with her eyes...professional bubble blower and of course she continues to brighten our days with her smile and laugh!

15 Weeks

Little Miss Avah is growing like a weed- we had to go into the pediatrician this week and she is weighing 13 lbs 10 oz! She has started this really loud giggle that I just love. Tonight I was kissing her over and over and over on the cheek and she would let out this loudest giggles, ahh i just love it!

This past week was David's first fathers day. We got him some new golf shirts and cards. :) Avah and I are really lucky to have such a wonderful man in our life..and he is one of the best dads out there. He works so hard for our family and cares for Avah with so much love. I cant wait to see their relationship in 5, 10, 15 years...I know she is going to have him around her little fingers (if not already) We spent fathers day at the beach with some great friends. Then we ordered out from a local Italian place it was a great day!
Im going to post some pics of our trip to Ohio when I get them, Avah did great on all 4 plane rides, even the 4 hour layover in Atlanta :) phew! Glad thats over...I was so nervous flying alone with her.


*We are still refusing a bottle :( Im going to try a tiny bit of Karo syrup on the nipple and just let her play around with it for a few days. Then Ill add some b. milk to a bottle and try again. Its SOOOOOOO frustrating....I even tried formula mixed with breast milk and she refused..at my wits end with this one! Daddy and I need a golf date!

Avah's 3 month Schedule

Life with baby...

wakes up by 8am
nurse, change clothes, play (tummy time, rattles, talking to her) while she plays I get ready in less than 10 mins..yes this is true. Gym clothes, no make-up, hair pulled up! LOL

stoller ride/coffee shop and/or i go to the gym

stroller ride, play outside..usually by this time its getting cooler out

630 I make dinner and usually eat with little Avah on my lap (she likes to be held when she is sleepy)

Wakes around 3 or 4am for a diaper change and feeding then up by 8am!


My days occasionally feel like groundhog day LOL.. :) & somedays at 5pm I realize I havent fed myself since 10am..like today..but hey Avah is WELL taken care of so thats all that matters right?!

3 months in 2days!!

Oh my, I cannot begin to tell you how fast time is going, it is sooo true what they say about having kids! Time really does go that much faster. Its so funny I think David and I are beginning to "feel" our age. Last Friday Susan came over to spend a couple hours with Avah so we took off to the pool. We met a couple there who had 2 kids already so we were talking about Avah the entire time! Their little boy asked all of our ages. I wouldve guessed this couple was 35+ish..Oh no they were our age! So later were like is that what we look like now?! haha..and maybe we are just in denial?

Avah is learning new things every week, she is more vocal now..all day long she will smile and talk...its the sweetest sound. I LOVE holding her in my arms when she gives me the biggest grin and will coo so loudly. This past week she started grabbing one of the toys hanging on her car seat and she likes staring at the patterns too. 

I am looking forward to taking her to Ohio Monday. Im feeling kind of nervous since Im going alone but Im sure Avah will cooperate and sleep most of the time.

1st trip to the beach

11 weeks 4 days

We were so excited to take Avah for her first trip to the beach Memorial Day weekend. I was waiting until she was at least 2 months old because her eyes seemed so sensitive to light the first few weeks..and she had to grow into her beach hat! I am being extra caution with sunscreen, her hat is spf 50 and I am ordering a Coolibar bathing suit..(I worked for a dermatologist before teaching so I am going to be a freak with my baby!!!) We also kept her under the tent the entire time haha :)

New News About Avah:

-She has found her hands and frequently tries to put them in her mouth. Occasionally she will suck her thumb for a few seconds but then makes a really yucky face.

-If I make sounds she will mimic me, not the exact sound I make but its like she is having a conversation with me. love it!

-A few nights she has fell asleep on her own. I have been nursing her to sleep but I read last night it might be a good idea to lay her down while she is drowsy but not awake...and ironically she has started doing this on her own.
-Mommy & Daddy are still in the guest room...just cant bring myself to be that far away while she is sleeping yet...so I guess this is old news :)

-She is still refusing the bottle...it is a work in progress..
